Yesterday I finally went back to “serious crafting” for the blog again after taking a little break this week. Apparently, life takes over sometimes and I had so many other things on my to-do list that something had to give. I have been doing blog related things though. I did some paper crafting on Tuesday…
…I went to the garden center…
…and I’ll tell you all about it later this week.
First of all, I finally mailed Oskar’s jumper to Scotland earlier this week. Here is my nephew in his Kambur!
Obviously there is some room to grow (a lot!) but doesn’t that yoke look great on him?
Now, on to my current knitting project, the Florence cardigan: I did cast on for the first sleeve last Sunday while pick-nicking in the park…
…there were so many distractions though (good food, sweet friends and their cute kids) and I have to admit that I didn’t make much more progress after I took that picture.
Yesterday, right after breakfast, I finally got it out again…
…and I knitted on and off on it all day: while having cheese toasties with Renske, babysitting Hadewych (ok not a lot of knitting here due to lots of baby holding – but she did take a 45 minute nap!), I went for a coffee and cake date at Petit Gateau – I can’t believe I forgot to take pictures of the lovely pastries they have there! – and then some more TV knitting while I waited for dinner to be ready (thank you Thomas!).
When I took a dinner knitting break I was more than half way through the first cuff and ready to change to a bigger needle.
After eating a lovely noodle soup I picked it up again and around midnight I had finished the first cuff!
After a whole day of starting and stopping I had finally gotten into the rhythm of this (not very hard) lace pattern and I didn’t want to stop! So instead of going to bed I decided watch another movie (The Help) and cast-on for the second sleeve. When the movie was finished (2.30 AM!) and I finally ready to go to bed I had reached the changing-needle-row on the second cuff:
I had a hard time falling asleep after this (do you get so excited about your knitting that you can’t sleep?) and this morning I had to force myself to put it down and start writing this blogpost. I think it’s safe to say that I got my knitting groove back. I still have two repeats to go on the second cuff and then I’m planning to do two-at-a-time sleeves for the stockinette part. I will let you know next week how it all turned out!
Now: what to do for Make and Mend Monday…?
