Yes. I’m starting a blog today. Let me tell you why.
I like to make things. I am addicted to knitting, I love to cook, and I get warm fuzzy feelings when I read about a project that involves glue, paper, scissors, and/or other craft supplies. Apart from that I love gardening and always around this time of year I start thinking about all the cool stuff I could grow or build in my garden. And then there’s this dream I have to become a really good seamstress so I’ll be able to make my own dresses….
So when I’m on Pinterest, and let’s be honest: I spend a good amount of time on Pinterest, I start to pin away like crazy. Make my own candles? Yes please! Build my own garden in only one weekend? Don’t mind if I do! Oh look at all the cute things you can make with washi tape! I should really remember to do that next time I’m wrapping a present! The list goes on and on: growing your own avocado plant, creating a pebble mosaic in your garden, how to rebloom your poinsettias next Christmas, DIY etched wooden spoons, DIY Polaroid picture magnets. I’m not even talking about all the pretty knitting, embroidery and crochet projects or tutorials I’m pinning daily.
So, here is what I’m going to do. Today it is the 1st of March and from this day on for a whole year I’m going to try and get 6 pins crossed off of my list each week. Each day will revolve around a theme:
Make & Mend Monday: On Monday I reduce, reuse and recycle: Projects this day will focus on “making your own” and mending what’s broken. Preferably without buying lots of new supplies
Tiny Crafts Tuesday: On Tuesdays I will do a small crafty project that isn’t knitting or sewing: a day where I will try out those small tutorials that generally involve, cardboard, paper, string, glue, scissors, (washi) tape, stamps and/or glitter.
Make it Work Wednesday: Wednesday is a day for organizing and planning. Anything that will make my life run smoother and my house cleaner and less cluttered.
Green Thumb Thursday: On Thursdays I will do something garden or plant related. This can be anything that has to do with gardening or caring for my indoor plants.
New Food Friday: On Fridays I will try out a new recipe
Stitches Saturday & Sunday: The weekend is for knitting, sewing, crochet, embroidery – you name it. If it involves yarn or fabric it applies.
I will mainly focus on small projects that can be done in an hour or two. However I will also try my hand at some bigger projects: these can be the project of the month. So in that case I will spend one day a week doing something that is related to the theme of that day but will only be finished over the course of a month.
So this is the plan, I’m excited to see what will happen this year…
